Mimi Kurtz PhD

Dr. Kurtz earned her psychology degree from Davidson College and her master’s and PhD in school psychology from the University of South Carolina. She provides evaluations for children and adolescents with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and anxiety. She helps families understand their child’s needs. Outside of work, she enjoys Lake Murray, walking her dog, and cheering for the Gamecocks.

Bio and Work History

Dr. Kurtz earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Davidson College before moving from North Carolina to South Carolina for graduate training. She completed both her master’s degree and PhD in school psychology at the University of South Carolina, followed by a predoctoral internship with Richland School District Two, where she provided comprehensive psychological services to students.

At SouthernMED Counseling, Dr. Kurtz specializes in psychological evaluations for children and adolescents. She assesses conditions such as autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and anxiety using a thorough, compassionate, and evidence-based approach. Her goal is to help families better understand their child’s strengths and needs while providing direction for effective interventions and accommodations.

Dr. Kurtz lives in Lexington with her husband, Seth, and their dog, Millie. Outside of work, she enjoys walking Millie along the Old Mill Pond Trail, spending time with family on Lake Murray, and cheering for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
