When thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or relationships begin affecting daily life, our counseling services offer a welcoming space for evaluation, guidance, and care. Our clinicians work with individuals and families to understand their concerns, set practical goals, and build healthier ways to manage difficult moments.
The philosophy behind SouthernMED’s counseling services centers on clear communication and relationships built over time. These values shape each patient’s experience.
Open communication is the backbone of counseling. Patients and families are encouraged to ask questions, share concerns and take an active role in the counseling process.
We approach each person with humility and recognize counseling as an opportunity to serve patients, families and the communities around us.
The goals discussed during intake help shape each patient’s plan. Recommendations reflect the concerns, relationships and circumstances that brought them to counseling.
SouthernMED Counseling offers several ways to address emotional, behavioral, and family-related concerns. From one-on-one sessions to family guidance and comprehensive evaluations, services are selected according to each patient’s circumstances and goals.
One-on-one sessions give patients space to examine emotions, habits, relationships, school or work concerns, and other experiences that may be affecting daily life.
During family therapy, our counselors work with family members to address patterns affecting the household, including parent-child conflict, communication difficulties, changing family roles, and relationship concerns.
Parenting comes with a lot of questions. Practical guidance and connections to groups, community events, and other helpful resources can make it easier to respond to your family’s needs.
Available at our Lexington (Main Street) location, psychological evaluations can help clarify and diagnose learning, behavioral, emotional, or developmental concerns, including ADHD and autism, and inform appropriate recommendations for each patient.
Changes in mood, behavior, relationships, or daily routines may signal that it is time for a conversation. Counseling may help when concerns begin interfering with home, school, work, or everyday life.
